For the last several years we have partnered with Ecofiltro and CLEAN international to distribute point-of-use water filters to those who visit our health center. This year, with the support of a generous grant, we set a goal of distributing 1,000 filters during 2022. With the end of the year fast approaching, we are closing in on that ambitious goal with 900+ filters distributed thus far!
From the time we proudly became an official distributor of Ecofiltros, we have "prescribed" filters to patients suffering from waterborne illness as part of their acute treatment as well as long-term prevention. We have also placed a special emphasis on ensuring pediatric patients who meet criteria for malnutrition also have access to clean drinking water.
This year we expanded our distribution to include local schools and have placed nearly 100 filters in schools thus far.
The path is sometimes challenging, but it is well worth the journey to position access to clean water as an agent for change in the lives of those we serve.
