Some exciting news arrived in my inbox recently. I will be heading back to school this July! To paraphrase (very loosely) Lebron James, "I am taking my talents to.... Harvard!"
To be clear, my foray into the Ivy League will be short-lived (just three weeks) and I will continue to provide direct patient care simultaneous to my academic pursuits.
I have had the Global Health Delivery Intensive (GHDI) program- offered each year by the Global Health Delivery Project at Harvard University- on my radar for a while. This year the timing of the course was feasible in the context of my other responsibilities. I submitted my application a couple of months ago and was pleased to learn recently of my acceptance. As the name indicates, the program is "intensive" and consists of several hours of coursework each day for three weeks in July. The current iteration of the course is entirely virtual. So, technically I will not be taking my talents physically to Harvard, rather my talents and I will stay in rural Guatemala and learn from the folks at Harvard as well as other leaders in Global Health from the comfort of my tropical environs.
The Global Health Delivery Project was started by legends in the field:

Some of the highlights of the GHDI program include:

I very much look forward to learning from international experts in Global Health and, most importantly, translating those lessons into ever-improving care for our patient population in rural Guatemala!
